Thoughts on Money

The one thing that is driving the world of today and has been involved in bringing about tremendous changes in the lifestyle of man through the years;the most influential and necessary component of a man's life - MONEY. If we closely examine the manner in which the very concept of currency has evolved we would be really stunned at how it has caught the day to day existence of man with almost irreversible influence.

In the early days when man started to cook his own food(which was followed after the greatest invention on earth - Fire), man slowly started to search for the means to get the daily needed food. Slowly he began to cultivate his own food grains and other subsidiaries and was very much self-content, to such a man Money would mean nothing but a bit of paper or some metal object. Then as the so-called Civilization evolved man needed not just the daily food but a lot many items like clothes, shelter etc. It was for these more-than daily needs initiated by civilization which led to the origin of the Barter System-exchanging one commodity for another. This can be called as the Commodity - to - Commodity era. Our currency had not yet taken birth in this stage.

Then, the Kings or Emperors of those times started to fancy gold coin like objects to represent their royal emblem. Then slowly and slowly these coins started to being exchanged for commodities;and this is when the Commodity-to-Money system took shape. Then onwards, our currency has had a very rapid growth and now it has become one of the most powerful aspects in every man's life. In the world of now, even a beggar on the street needs money to survive.it is because of the fact that even to get the very basic food to survive we need money.

Money has brought about a vast amount of difference amongst people dividing them almost cruelly as the races. In India, we have a very well known segregation by the Government as people Above Poverty Line and those Below Poverty Line. As per my thoughts, money is the only reason why we have poverty in place today, because its only the quantity or accumulation of money that determines man as Rich and Poor. Only if man had not been so selfish enough to accumulate money and to run behind his ever ending needs to make his life more and more comfortable;we would have almost a great harmony amongst the whole race of people living in this earth. When nations around the world have reached a stage where they spend millions and millions of dollars to their armed forces instead of looking at the needs of a common man, the change back to the pre-civilization days of man is almost impossible.

As a person living in this world of today, I have pondered on this fact of the prevalent inequality between equally equipped men being driven to the extremes in their existence just because of money. Just imagine today's typical middle class family life, which I feel is the most developing part of the society;how a child is brought into the money trap right from his childhood unknowingly. As a baby, well protected by the warmth of his parents;he knows no evil and is the most pure soul in existence. Then, the very step in the child's development starting with his education is influenced by money;which brings about the major difference in the grooming - Quality Education provided at the so-called Prestigious educational institutes. The child grows by watching the new stuff that is filling the atmosphere around him - Technology; he becomes an easy prey to it, say for example the tempting advertisements shown on the Television. The needs and necessities of a child being born in today's world is not only food, shelter, care and clothes but Play stations, gaming consoles, personal computers, toys of cartoon characters and the list goes on and on. And the parents who are able to meet these needs fall into another category and those who cant afford are naturally termed poor.

When a child evolves into a boy and then into an adult and then a man, he himself would be in the race for money and to accumulate it as much as he can so that all his needs are met. This race of money in the adult stage is what brings about the competition in education as well as the good-scorers naturally get a better chance to be well-off than others. This disparity literally tears apart the ambitions of a common child and brings him to the never-ending race for money and power. So many talents are being lost in this fast-paced run and many and many children driven to the darker sides of life to exist in this world.

My thoughts on Money and its implications are so  many that I will share all of it with you.

My final words for this post would be just a imaginary situation that I would want all of you, whoever it may be to just take a small break from your daily schedule and ponder upon this concept - "What if Money did not exist in this World?? " . You would feel your mind going deeper and deeper into this idea and would see a almost very harmonious world where all men are equal, treated equal, have equal opportunities and at most - HAPPY BY ALL MEANS!!

God Bless.
